Primary (baby) teeth are capable of forming cavities and therefore need to be treated before the cavities have a chance to cause pain or infection. At All Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, we will evaluate each child’s case individually and create a treatment plan that we think is best for their overall health. Some primary teeth may not need treatment, depending on your child’s growth and development stage. Others are important to keep your child’s smile intact to prevent shifting when their permanent teeth come in and keep your child from experiencing discomfort.
We’ll use a filling material to fill in the space left behind after cleaning out the decay. As the name “tooth-colored fillings” implies, they will also completely match the shade of their natural teeth. The material is safe and mercury-free.
Depending on the size and location of the cavity, we may numb the area with local anesthesia, so your child will be comfortable during treatment. The decay will then be removed, and once cleaned, it’s time to fill it in! After placement, the filling will be shaped and polished to make it feel like their original tooth.
If your child has a cavity and needs a filling, All Smiles Pediatric Dentistry is here to help! With our gentle care, we’ll make sure they’re comfortable throughout the entire process. Contact us today to schedule an appointment!
