At All Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, we offer nitrous oxide for dental treatment. Otherwise known as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide can help your child feel relaxed and reduce their dental anxiety during the treatment process. An added benefit is the reduction of their gag reflex!
Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that will keep your child relaxed while still staying completely awake. The combination of inhaled nitrous oxide and oxygen is safe and effective, and helps manage pain and anxiety. We will place a mask over their nose which emits a combination of oxygen and nitrous oxide. Your child will breathe through their nose while the mask is in place.
Nitrous oxide is safe! Dr. Lenard and her team are trained to use it appropriately. Nitrous oxide is used to reduce anxiety and help your child feel comfortable in the dental chair; it wears off quickly after use.
