Sometimes the recommended treatment for a decayed or fractured baby tooth will be a dental pediatric crown.
A dental crown is a cap placed over an existing tooth that has been damaged or decayed. This will strengthen the tooth and help prevent the further damage, but it’s still important for your child to continue good brushing and flossing habits.
Even though your child’s primary (baby) teeth will eventually fall out, some teeth are still present during middle school, and even high school. Dr. Lenard will evaluate the tooth in question to determine the best treatment option(s) for your child.
Once the treatment area is numbed, we’ll remove the decay and clean the tooth. The tooth will then be shaped to fit the custom-made crown, and then the crown is cemented on. This happens in one visit, unlike an adult crown that may take multiple appointments.
If your child has a cavity or any discomfort, a dental crown might be a great option to maintain good oral health. At All Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, we will make sure they feel completely comfortable during the entire treatment. Contact us today to schedule an appointment!
